Baltimore Museum of Art Expansion Feasibility Study, Baltimore, Maryland
Reorient the museum entrance by re-opening the John Russell Pope door and reconfigure the internal circulation. Proposed additions include a new 75,000-100,000 s.f. addition to the north consisting of three levels above and one level below grade. This addition will include a new public entry. A new loading dock and art storage area would wrap the west wing on the north and west sides. A new glass roof is envisioned over the existing Schaeffer Court to make this area a usable space. This will necessitate raising the existing floor slightly. Also planned is a vertical expansion of the existing Thalheimer Galleries. Reportedly, this gallery is structure to accept an additional floor. A new interior feature stair and elevators are also programmed for this expansion project.
